With the multifaceted group exhibition titled „Memento Abstract“ janinebeangallery presents four contemporary artists whose works explore the themes of landscape, abstraction and memory in an inspiring way.

The exhibition focuses on three contemporary painters.
The powerful landscape paintings of the Berlin artist Andrea Damp are based on the rich and diverse scenery of her homeland, the island of Rügen. Damp’s works are inspired by the tradition of 19th century romantic landscape painting and at the same time expand the boundaries of abstraction. Her paintings tell stories through a careful selection of color, structure and light, immersing the viewer in a world between abstraction and narrative. Minimalist figurative elements emerge at an advanced stage of the painting process and create dynamic interactions within the picture space, creating associations with plants, forests and clouds. Damp’s expressive interpretation of landscape opens a dialogue about the interplay of light and darkness, while horizons and depths stimulate the imagination.

In his work, the Swiss artist Florian Fausch moves between representational and abstraction in urban space. Fausch’s artworks are characterized by geometric compositions that are reminiscent of collages and stencils. They are the result of a dynamic process in which reality and utopia merge and create a powerful overall image. Fausch, who studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, condenses his ideas and brings fresh perspectives to contemporary painting.

Also represented in the exhibition is the ceramic sculptor Beate Höing, whose artworks address a very special connection between material and memory. Höing’s works transcend the boundaries of the ordinary by charging everyday objects with a new meaning and profound significance. Her use of ceramic materials questions the perception of beauty and value. Incorporated knick-knacks and porcelain figures bring a nostalgic dimension to her works, which are both provocative and playful, offering viewers space for imagination and reflection.

Hannah Jones, born in Wales in 1990, will also be part of the exhibition. Her paintings are characterized by a rhythmic flow that allows viewers to understand the dynamics of her work and develop their own perspective. Jones’ creative freedom in abstraction allows her to create complex emotional and visual dialogues without being guided by the conventions of realistic representation. Her international exhibition experience ranges from Berlin to New York and confirms her status as an emerging voice in the contemporary art scene.
